I will definitely try this soon. The last time I made pasta, I used homemade pesto I’d made and frozen last summer. I started cooking after I got home from work, and Jeff’s comment was, “Wish I’d called you and told you to get vodka sauce.” As if my homemade pesto was somehow blah.
Oh, and last weekend I made your fake chicken stew. Jeff asked where I got the recipe, so I told him, along with the story of how Baker Man gave the dish its name. And his comment, “Why do we always have to eat Jackie’s food?” 🙂
Ha ha ha. Poor Jeff, he lives such a tough life 🙂 Tell him he needs to cook more often then he can make whatever he likes!
Man, vodka sauce is one of my favorites! I love it so much. I definitely recommend panchetta or my favorite, prosciutto instead of bacon, but of course, that takes more pre-planning. Also, making the sauce from scratch, although time consuming, is SOOOO worth it. Fresh sauce is great, and you can jar it pretty easily. Just ask Dave…he has “sauce day” where he jars like an entire years worth of sauce in one day!
By the way Jackie, the onions and garlic are a huge plus! I always do the same…along with some oregano….mmmmmmm……now I’m hungry!
Oh I don’t disagree about using fresh when possible but this recipe is more about quick and easy while still keeping lots of flavor. Oregano is a great addition. Basil too.
Oh yeah, definitely…to do it full on you need all kinds of prepping and a nice list of ingredients. I usually make the version you posted!
That looks delicious!
I was looking for a recipe of spaghetti with vodka sauce which I ever saw in one of Rachel Ray’s show but could not find it – but I found your recipe. Though it’s not exactly the same with what Rachel Ray demonstrated on TV but your vodka sauce looks so appetizing – I will certainly try it myself. I am like you, I use recipe only as a guideline – I usually end up with my own version. Will share with you how I would end up when trying out your recipe of vodka sauce
