Those cookies were SOOOO GOOOOOOOOD!!!! I want one so bad right now.
Those cookies look great. I had never heard of Meringue Powder, I had to look it up.
Those look fantastic Paige.
How do you get the icing to “flood” the cookie? Do you pipe that into the middle and it just does its thang? Or do you spread it on like butter?
That’s a good question, Sarahs. I completely missed the whole part about actually decorating the cookies ๐
I normally use a #3 tip and color between the lines. Assuming you followed the three second rule correctly, the icing should just flow together. Sometimes I carefully give the cookie a little shake to make sure it’s smooth or take a toothpick to force the icing to go into crevices (only an issue if you outline first).
My point is that you do not need to spread it, just try covering the cookie as best as you can by piping and the icing will come together as one. This is why it is important to thin your icing to the proper consistency… too thick and it won’t flow and merge together nicely, too thin and it won’t hold shape. I hope this makes sense!
Perhaps we can have a cookie making party for you to further explain?! ๐
Those cookies look absolutely amazing! Very beautiful. I have a question about the meringue powder – how is it different than powdered egg whites? I had purchased some a while back and the ingredient list said powdered egg whites. Would it effect the icing to just use powdered egg whites if meringue powder can’t be found?
Although I have never used them, I am pretty positive the using powdered egg whites would work as well. Meringue powder does have some added ingredients, such as stabilizers, but I think you should be all set ๐ Let me know if you try! I am curious!
Luckily meringue powder is pretty accessible… try any craft store (don’t forget your coupon!) or even the local Wal-Mart/Target. If all else fails, look online ๐
Thank you! And thanks for the reminder to bring my coupon to the craft store – that is something I always forget! How’d you know?
great job! those look really nice, I love making cookies! I took 4 courses on cake decorating and love doing it, if you guys ever need any help let me know, although you are great at it!

Thanks Delfi! I also have taken several classes on cake decorating, although I credit just about everything I’ve learned to the fabulous community over on Cake Central (www.cakecentral.com). They are amazing… from the pictures, forums, tutorials… love it!!
I’m excited that you decided to start your own blog! Can’t wait to see what wonderful things you come up with ๐
thanks Paige, I have been busy with my photography (even though I don’t exactly keep up with my website) but I always wanted to start the other blog which is basically about cooking with organic ingredients, gardening and well just me as a mom.
Shhh cakecentral has been one of my obsessions for a couple of years…haha I love that place and all the ideas you can get!
HUGS!
