It is early afternoon on Saturday and I am already exhausted by this weekend! Yes, I exaggerate but I have been very productive/busy so far.
I started out the morning running my first race ever. Not including the ones I was forced to do in gym class. Paige ran with me and I learned she is the perfect person to help me keep my pace. It was only 3k but considering I really hadn’t been running a lot, I am not the biggest fan of running to start with, and an injury to my knee last weekend, it was a big deal for me. I am proud to announce I ran the whole thing and finished in 22 minutes and 17 seconds! I could get addicted to this. There is one in April I am thinking about running now. It’s a 5k though and includes a causeway. For those or you asking what a causeway is, it’s a bridge over the rivers (or intercoastal waterways) here and they are the only hills we have. Hmmmm….Decisions, decisions.
After that I did all of my grocery shopping for the week and cleaned our kitchen. Both are big tasks. For the grocery shopping, I made a menu, made a list and then went to 2 different stores. A smaller local store for all of our meat and produce (and 4 bottles of wine), and a large chain for everything else (and another bottle of wine – What? I forgot one I needed for cooking.) And Paige is stalking me and followed me to the smaller local store. All this grocery shopping is good though because it means I will be cooking this week, which means lots of recipes with pictures to come!
As for the kitchen. My Little Baker Man – aka my husband – baked a triple decker cheesecake last night. He is the messiest cook ever but I suppose I can’t complain because whatever he makes comes out so well. More on the cheesecake to come.
This afternoon is pretty busy as well. We are meeting friends for putt putt because the weather is too darn beautiful to be indoors. Later we are having people over for game night. And that is what the cheesecake is for. I will post more on that tomorrow. But I am also making beef dip sandwiches with a kick and the easiest sangria ever. So look for those coming up in the next couple of days too.
Reading your blog, Jackie, made me want to take a nap! Oh, to be young. John & I went to the Strawberry Festival in Melbourne…he liked the car show, I liked the crafts. Now we’re relaxing. I had to take a day off from hunting for a new company to work for…been at it all week and looking for a job IS a full-time job.
Enjoy your game night (and cheescake–yummy) tonight.
By the way, this week I made “Pumpkin Pie Drop Cookies” and they are phenomenal! Today I had to make pumpkin pancakes for our breakfast so I didn’t waste the rest of the pumpkin (life is rough☺)
God Bless You. –Betsy
Oh no! Not you too!! I swear, everyone in Melbourne is into running now. I do it too, but honestly, I hate every second of it. Races aren’t so bad, but training is just miserable. I just can’t understand how people can say that it’s relaxing. I’m the opposite of relaxed by the time I get home!! It doesn’t matter now anyway though…with the baby I don’t think I can possibly run in my free time (what’s that?), so I’ll have to accept the fact that I’m going to get fatter. Just don’t tell my wife! =)
Run the baby in a stroller! Good for both of you. Some guy on Saturday totally blew by me while pushing a stroller. And yea, everyone here does seem to run.
